Audi has officially revealed the 2011 Audi A8 at the Miami Auto Show. Normally, we don’t get excited about anything Audi unless it bares the “R” or “TT” mark, but after a quiet month in the auto world this is a sexy start to the month of December. The 2011 Audi A8 is the top-end luxury model for Audi, designed to compete directly with the luxury class Mercedes, BMW, Lexus and Jaguar models. As we hinted at above, we normally pan this range of cars, as we prefer performance, rarity or vintage autos over the normally cookie-cutter luxury line. However, we can’t fight a bit of autolust when taking a peek at the new Audi… The 2011 Audi A8 is powered by a 372hp V8 engine capable of takeoff to sixty times of under 5.7 seconds, not to mention a 15% increase in fuel efficiency over the previous A8. Inside, the new A8 is teched out as a wireless internet hotspot, which provides a 3D satellite nav system with Google Earth and even a web-connected audio library. That sound will be pushed by 19(!) Bang & Olufsen speakers and 1400 watts of audio power. The subtle design upgrade on the exterior is nice (we adore the headlights), but its the stats like those above which have us drooling. While we might prefer a new Lotus or a classic Porsche to this new 2011 Audi A8, its the tech specs and performance upgrades that make us understand precisely why one would opt for this kind of luxury. Nice work, Audi. View in gallery View in gallery View in gallery
